Persephone is a Moluccan Cockatoo here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village near Atlanta, GA. She was found in a ferret cage in a hot garage in Alabama and brought here. If you look closely, you will notice she has no toes and her wings have been pinioned. We have no idea how or why, but she doesn't let either stop her. She uses her toes like fingers, and she can dismantle a cage or play stand in no time at all.

Max is a resident Goffin's Cockatoo here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village near Atlanta, Georgia. He is a funny little guy, and don't let the missing feathers fool you; he can fly with the best of them! He is at least 25 years old, but he was caught in the wild and imported into the US, so we aren't really sure how old he is.
Each night around 8:30 pm, I start passing out almonds to the birds before bedtime. Max doesn't live in a cage, so he can go wherever he wants. On this particular night, he wanted to hide in the shower curtain!

This is Mulligan, and he is leader bird here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village. Mulligan is not up for adoption, and he suffers from feather cysts that can be painful, and they add to his plucking woes.
He enjoys having parties in his head, and this is what they sound and look like!

We are having a security sytem installed, and Sampson is offended because his noise is competing with the alarm. He thinks he is good enough to be an ADT alarm!

He is the most talkative of our Goffin's here, and he has a laugh that will keep you in stitches. He is very friendly, but he will get into mischief. He is our button bandit, often removing buttons from visitor's clothing!
Goffin's Cockatoos can live 40+ years, so please don't buy a baby Goffin's at a pet store of from a breeder. You do not need a baby in order to develop a bonding relationship. Patience and trust are all that are needed to develop a life-long bond. By adopting an adult Goffin's, you know exactly what personality your bird has, you will save the life of another bird waiting to fill that space in rescue, you will have the support of the rescue, and you will pay a fraction of the cost of a baby. Kaesha is a 10-year-old Blue and Gold Macaw. He is available for adoption at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village (www.parrotvillage.org).
While Kaesha speaks and understands Russian, his English vocabulary is growing. He really likes to give you big "Rawrs" when he is feeling feisty!

Mulligan is a resident rescued Moluccan Cockatoo here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village. He is not up for adoption, and he has the habit of giving you a lunge followed by a nah-nah-nah when he misses. Very cute!

Sampson has learned to 'hold on' to be touched. I have all of my fingers, so it must be working!

Jonnie is a female Greenwing Macaw here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village, just outside of Atlanta, GA. She is still in quarantine, but she is making herself at home by getting a bit of exercise in her cage.

Mr. Pete is a Bare-eyed cockatoo, and he is quite the dancer. He prefers to dance in the privacy of his own cage, but I was able to capture a little bit while he was on his playgym.

This little guy was weaned too soon...a practice that can have life-long consequences to the bird and its family. He seems to be a fast study, so please cheer him on!

Caper is a White-bellied Caique that is up for adoption here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village. He loves to hitch a ride to soft clothing and rub himself all over you. A pocket parrot with a lot of birditude!

Max and Ludwig are resident Goffin's Cockatoos here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village, just outside Atlanta, GA. Max is 20 years old, and his best buddy is 1 Ludwig. Ludwig just turned one. He was surrendered here as a baby because he was not weaned properly by the breeder who sold him.
I was cleaning cages, and Max decided to go visit Ludwig and play the paper game with him. This is a short video of a 2-hour play session!

We have 11 heritage breed hens here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village www.parrotvillage.org. The hens eat the leftover food from the birds, and in turn, they supply the birds and the family with organic eggs and shells. As a treat for their hard work, the parrots graciously share their treasured treat of fresh figs from the fig trees here.

Sebastian has a unique way of eating his pellets. But, he has gained 14 grams, so I will let him eat them any way he wants!

Benny is an adoptable cockatiel here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village (parrotvillage.org). He sings, whistles, and talks all during the day, but he is most active when he is supposed to be sleeping. Birds can be so child-like!

Disney is a typical Jenday Conure, and what you see and hear in this video is mild noise. This is Disney at about 20% of his normal volume and frequency. He slowed down a bit because he sees me and the camera. He is in a 5X8 aviary withe every toy, perch, and food he could dream of, but this is his favorite activity.
Stores like Petsmart are required to carry these birds in their stores. If the manager does not choose a bird, one will be sent to the store by default. They are beautiful, and you won't hear them like this in the store because they are scared. Get them into your home and let them become comfortable, and you will never experience quiet again.
